Barbara Ann Denny Johnson, of Grapeland, Texas, went home to be in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, the 18th day of October, 2018.  She passed away at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler, Texas at the age of 74.  She was born in Portsmouth, Virginia on the 4th day of April, 1944 to William Denny and Ouida Harris Denny.  Mrs. Johnson received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Centenary College of Louisiana and a Masters Degree from Stephen F. Austin State University.   Mrs. Johnson was a beloved school teacher for Caddo Parish I.S.D., Latexo I.S.D. and Grapeland I.S.D. for many years.  Her loving personality and Christian example touched the lives of her students and others in the community.  Mrs. Johnson was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority-Gamma Chi Chapter and the Episcopal Church. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Ouida Harris Denny and stepmother, Marjorie Denny.

Left to cherish the memory of Mrs. Johnson is her daughter, Jennifer Prout of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sons, Will Johnson, Tommy Johnson and wife Anna, all of Grapeland, Texas; brother, William F. Denny II and wife Jerry of Lake Charles, Louisiana as well as nephew William Denny of Lake Charles; and grandchildren, Payton Prout, Tyler Johnson, Logan Johnson and Caleb Johnson.  

A visitation with family and friends will be held from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening at Rhone Funeral Home in the Reflection Room and Parlor on Sunday, the 21st day of October, 2018.

Funeral services for Barbara Johnson will be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Monday, the 22nd day of October, 2018 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jordan Byrd officiating.  Interment will follow in Davis Cemetery in Grapeland.
