Billie Joye Briley, of Palestine, formerly of Kilgore, left this world for her heavenly home on Saturday, the 5th day of October, 2019. She passed away at Legacy of Town Creek at the age of 89. Mrs. Briley was born on the 23rd day of July, 1930, in De Berry, Texas, to John Callahan and Beulah Howell Callahan.
Mrs. Briley worked as a beautician for 48 years until she retired. She was a devout Christian and member of Highland Park Baptist Church in Kilgore, until her health declined. She then moved to Palestine to be closer to her only son, Gary. In her younger days, Mrs. Briley loved gardening and working in the yard. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Beulah Callahan; husband, Harvey Briley, who passed away in 1975; and brothers, Vance Callahan and John A. Callahan.
Mrs. Briley is survived by her son, Gary Briley and wife Sara of Palestine; and a host of friends.
Friends are cordially invited to visit with the family and share memories of Mrs. Briley from five o’clock until seven o’clock in the evening, on Monday, the 7th day of October, 2019, at Rhone Funeral Home.
A graveside service to celebrate Billie Briley is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon, on Tuesday, the 8th day of October, 2019, at Kilgore City Cemetery, 200 Memorial Street, Kilgore, Texas 75662, with Ben Rhone officiating.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions in Mrs. Briley’s memory can be directed towards Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd, Tyler, Texas 75701.
