Bobby J. Rogers, age 82, of Palestine, passed away on Thursday, the 15th day of August, 2019. He was born on the 1st day of June, 1937, in Streetman, Texas, to Garnet Cucal Rogers and Claudie Martin Rogers.
Mr. Rogers was a member of Concord Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. He was involved with the Texas Baptist Disaster Relief Team and was very active in church and in the community. Mr. Rogers loved horses and took pleasure in teaching his grandchildren how to ride. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Juanita Prater, Bettie Davis, Kay Rogers; brother, John Rogers; and son-in-law, Rusty Mack.
Mr. Rogers is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Aline Rogers; daughters, Karen Mack of Arlington, Texas, Debbie Vaughn and Gary of Fruitvale, Texas, Susan Pace and Jaymes of Palestine, Texas; son, Mark Rogers and Cheryl of Palestine, Texas; sister, Lois Smith of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Rachel Mack-Lloyd and Chris, Christina Rogers, Jared Rogers and Katrina, Jenna Rogers, Aaron Vaughn and Maureen, Jarod Vaughn, Ashleigh Retana and Juan, Tori Wilson and Matt, Rylee Pace and Jayme Pace; 12 great-grandchildren and one on the way. Mr. Rogers is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock until seven o’clock in the evening on Saturday, the 17th day of August, 2019 at Rhone Funeral Home.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Rogers will be conducted at three o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 18th day of August, 2019 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel with Bro. Mark Rogers, Bro. Gary Vaughn and Bro. Charles Grasty officiating. Interment will follow in Concord Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Chris Lloyd, Jared Rogers, Jarod Vaughn, Aaron Vaughn, Juan Retana, Matt Wilson, Jaymes Pace and Tyler Rogers.
