David “Dave” Joseph Mapp, age 70, of Palestine, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, the 14th day of May, 2018. He was born in Norfolk, Virginia on the 28th day of November, 1947 to William Coleman Mapp and Anna Stowe Mapp. Dave was a Vietnam Veteran and a manager of McCoy’s Building Supply for 22 years until his retirement; he then worked in the construction industry in the Palestine area. Dave loved all sports, especially baseball. He was an avid Astros fan and enjoyed beating his kids at fantasy football. Dave had a love for poetry and never met a stranger. He was a Godly man who loved his family and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Anna Mapp. Dave is survived by his wife of 41 years, Paula Mapp of Palestine, Texas; daughters, Bethany Eye and Nathan of Cypress, Texas, Angela Watts and Jason of Springfield, Missouri, Amy Sorbera and Chris of San Antonio, Texas, Sara Lloyd and Joshua of Seabrook, Texas, Stacie Mapp of Texarkana, Texas; sons, Seth Mapp and Kristy of League City, Texas, Nathan Mapp and Crystal of Ozark, Missouri; sisters, Eva Neal and Buddy of Crockett, Texas, Lee Ann Raffinan of Crockett, Texas; brothers, Jerry Zeedyk of Pasadena, Texas, Steve Zeedyk and Felicia of Kansas; 14 grandchildren and 2 on the way.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening on Thursday, the 17th day of May, 2018 in the Parlor and Reflection Room at Rhone Funeral Home.
Funeral services with Military Honors for David Joseph Mapp will be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Friday, the 18th day of May, 2018 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel. Following the funeral, Dave will be cremated and interred in the Houston National Cemetery at a later date.
