Evelyn Pauline (Starr) Young

Evelyn Pauline Young, of Palestine, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, the 12th day of September, 2019.  She passed away at Trucare Living Centers in Palestine at the age of 94.  Mrs. Young was born on the 26th day of October, 1924, in Percilla, Texas to Paul Starr and Ioma Bynam Starr.

Mrs. Young was proud of her family and the four children she raised.  She was a devoted mother who knew how to stretch a dollar.  She loved her grandkids and great-grandkids dearly.  Mrs. Young enjoyed gardening and watching her plants grow.  Before her health declined, she took pleasure in growing a vegetable garden and canning after the harvest.     

She is preceded in death by her parents Paul and Ioma Starr; daughter, Kathy Young; son, Dennis Young; several brothers and sisters; and a great-grandchild.

Mrs. Young is survived by her sons, Davy Young of Palestine and Jacky Young and wife Valeria of Elkhart; sister, Lou Gottlich of Mississippi; brother, Ben Starr of Tyler; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening on Saturday, the 14th day of September, 2019, at Rhone Funeral Home.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Young will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 15th day of September, 2019 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel with her grandson, Bro. Eric Young officiating.  Interment will follow in Perry Starr Cemetery in Palestine.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Josh Young, Cody Young, Tristan Young, Wes Mohon, Ronnie Conner, Bruce Alford, James May and Logan Young.
