Frankya Sawyer Cooper, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, the 11th day of November 2018, in Tyler, Texas, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Cooper, affectionately known as Chubby to her family and friends, was born on the 14th day of March, 1931 in Palestine, Texas to Frank and Myrtle Taylor Sawyer. Mrs. Cooper was a graduate of Palestine High School Class of 1947 and attended Nixon Business College. She was a homemaker and took great pride in raising her three girls, Carla, Christine, and Clara. Additionally, Chubby “ran the ranch” after her husband, Carl passed away after 39 years of marriage. She embraced the role of cattle rancher, and worked closely with her cowboy family. Chubby was full of life and always had a loving heart. Her enthusiasm permeated the atmosphere where ever she went. She loved everyone that came in her path. Her faith, church, family and friends always came first. She was a faithful member of the Crockett Road Church of Christ, where she attended every chance she could until her health declined. We are confident that she has walked through those heavenly gates excited to hold her spiritual passport, and returned back with those who have left before her and whom she has missed so very much. We are blessed to have had this great woman and role model in our lives and her soul now becomes our guardian angel. We miss and love you and some day we will meet again to pick-up where we left off.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Myrtle Sawyer; her husband and best friend, Carl Cooper; and her sisters, Marie Norton and Ophelia Denton.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her daughters, Carla Killion and husband David of Palestine, Texas, Christine Oliphant and husband Mike of Houston, Texas, Clara Davis and husband Mike of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Crystal White, Kim Harris, Davi Ingram, Sarah Oliphant, Skyla Sale, J.C. Davis; great-grandchildren, Garrett Harrison, Ethan Harrison, Nathan White, Ashlyn White, Violet Ingram, Carly Ingram, Sam Ingram, Caleb Harris, Luke Harris, Morgan Harris; nephew, Frank Denton and wife Connie; and niece, Donna Droby and husband Travis.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock until seven o’clock in the evening on Wednesday, the 14th day of November, 2018 in the Reflection Room and Parlor of Rhone Funeral Home.
A funeral service, in celebration of Mrs. Cooper’s very full life, is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday, the 15th day of November, 2018 at Crockett Road Church of Christ with Dan Manuel officiating. Interment will follow in Pilgrim Cemetery.
