James Harold Palmer, age 80, of Cayuga, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, the 11th day of March, 2019 in Tyler. He was born on the 19th day of February, 1939, in Chandler, Texas, to Joe Maxwell and Myra Smith Maxwell. Mr. Palmer served our country in the U.S. Navy and was also a Special Forces Green Beret during his service in the Army. He worked in construction and later retired from T.D.C.J. Mr. Palmer enjoyed hunting, fishing and dancing.
He is preceded in death by his father, Joe Maxwell; mother, Myra Palmer; step-father, Ted Palmer; and sister, Jean Garner.
Mr. Palmer is survived by his daughter, Kelli Green and Brad Hicks of Palestine; sons, Kyle Palmer and Jammi of Van Alstyne, Keith Palmer and Misty of Palestine, Jim Rodwick and Jill of California; brother, Kelly Joe Maxwell and wife Vivian of Fort Worth; sister, Anita Hagin and husband J.C. of Palestine; brother-in-law, Jerry Garner of Lindale; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kelsi, Kaden, Kennedy, Korbin, Haley, Aspyn, and Mackenzie.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
Cremation services for James Harold Palmer are in care of Rhone Funeral Home, 3900 S. State Highway 19, Palestine, Texas.
