Jerry Redden, age 76, of Palestine, departed to his heavenly home on Sunday, the 19th day of May, 2019. He was born on the 19th day of February, 1943, in Corsicana, Texas, to John B. Redden and Kathryn Averitt Redden. Jerry served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Jerry’s love for the Lord was witnessed daily throughout his life. He genuinely cared for others and enjoyed being in the company of his Grace United Methodist Church family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John B. and Kathryn Redden and one brother, Rickey Redden.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Verlyn Redden; daughters, Paige Miller and husband John of Houston, Texas, Jody Redden of Austin, Texas, Kasey Englehart and husband Dustin of Palestine, Texas; sister, Kathy Pillans and husband Gary of Corsicana, Texas; brother-in-law, Ken Kalbow and wife Debbie of Riesel, Texas; father-in-law, Alfred Kalbow of Brenham, Texas. He is also survived by his adoring grandchildren, Genevieve, John Barton, Nicholas, Katelyn and Tristan and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock until seven o’clock in the evening on Thursday, the 23rd day of May, 2019, in the Parlor of Rhone Funeral Home.
Funeral services for Jerry Redden will be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Friday, the 24th day of May, 2019 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel with Trey Comstock and Danny Rodriguez officiating.
A graveside service will follow at half past two o’clock in the afternoon in Hamilton Beeman Cemetery in Corsicana, Texas.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are David Hennessee, Daniel Hennessee, Therrell Thomas, Derrell Thomas, Brandon Cowart and Kelly Matthews. Honorary pallbearer will be Jerry Richards.
