Jo Ann (Hudson) Pigeon

Jo Ann Pigeon, age 81, of Palestine, was called home on Saturday, the 20th day of October, 2018.  She passed away peacefully at the Palestine TruCare Living Center.  Jo Ann was born in the small East Texas town of Timpson on the 22nd day of February, 1937 to Joe Hudson and Dorothy Jones Hudson.  For the past 38 years, she enjoyed living in her home in the country that she built just outside of town.  Jo Ann was full of ambition and an entrepreneur at heart.   She had many businesses over the years including a restaurant, beauty salon and resale shop, just to name a few.  Jo Ann’s biggest passion was for the outdoors, so she started a lawn and landscaping business in order to spend her days doing what she enjoyed the most.  Her customers were her extended family and caring for them brought her much happiness.  She also had a love and talent for organic gardening and raising beautiful flowers of all varieties.  If Jo Ann wasn’t in the garden, you could find her in the kitchen cooking an amazing meal.  She was the finest cook and hosted many Thanksgiving dinners for her family at her home.  Jo Ann was a strong, independent woman who always spoke her mind.  Most of all, she had a big heart, generous soul and lively spirit that shined bright till her final days.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Dorothy Hudson and husband, David C. Pigeon.

Jo Ann is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Pigeon; sisters, Charlesene Smith of Vidor, Texas, June Hyden and Steve of Buna, Texas, Janet Gilbert and Steve of Denver, Colorado.  She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

A private celebration of Jo Ann’s life will be held at a later date with her family members.

Cremation services for Jo Ann Pigeon are in care of Rhone Funeral Home, 3900 S. State Highway 19, Palestine, Texas.
