Joy Hollingsworth, age 93, of Palestine, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus on Sunday, the 3rd day of February, 2019 at Palestine Regional Medical Center. Joy was born in Groveton, Texas on the 2nd day of October, 1925, to Cicero Due and Pearl Rogers Due. Mrs. Hollingsworth was known as “Granny” to everyone. She was a excellent cook and enjoyed sitting on her porch in the country with a good cup of coffee. Everyone was drawn to Granny, even animals. She had a variety of pets and loved them all. Mrs. Hollingsworth was also a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Joy is preceded in death by her parents, Cicero Due and Pearl Rogers Due; husband, Earl James Hollingsworth; sisters, Ala Mae Jordon, Carrie Chiles and Charla Fay Due; and brother, G.W. Due.
She is survived by her son, Robert “Bob” Hollingsworth and wife Kathy of Palestine, Texas; grandchildren, Kasi Turner, Clinton Turner, Felisha Turner and Matthew Hollingsworth; great-grandchildren, Madeline Ballew, Korbin Ballew, Emma Turner, Arlo Hollingsworth and Avery Turner.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening on Wednesday, the 6th day of February, 2019 in the Parlor of Rhone Funeral Home.
A funeral service and celebration of Joy’s life will be conducted at one o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday, the 7th day of February, 2019 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel with Bro. Wayne Frazier officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted at one o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 8th day of February, 2019 in South Park Cemetery, 1310 North Main Street, Pearland, Texas 77581.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Bill Cameron, Kalvin Dunn, Matthew Hollingsworth and Clinton Turner.
