June Laverne (Poole) Woolverton

June Laverne Woolverton, of Palestine, passed away peacefully at TruCare Living Center where she was welcomed into Heaven by her Heavenly Father on Saturday, the 5th day of May, 2018.  She was 88 years old.  Mrs. Woolverton was born on the 22nd day of June, 1929 in Palestine, Texas to Herbert Poole and Maggie Huffman Poole.  Mrs. Woolverton was everyone’s mother.  She enjoyed cooking and sewing and loved to help other people.  She was a Christian and lifelong member of Harmony Baptist Church.   

Mrs. Woolverton is preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Maggie Poole; husband, Nuel Woolverton;  son, Herby Dale Woolverton; sisters, Mary Calloway, Tut Toole, Annie Lee Recknor, Audrey Harris; brothers, Claude Poole, Willard Poole and special daughter, Babs Jones.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Celia Turner and husband Jim, Mandy Smith and husband Paul; sons, Jim Woolverton, John Mark Woolverton and wife Jill, Shannon Woolverton and wife Samantha; daughter-in-law, Gayle Lamb; grandchildren, Dale Woolverton, Chuck Jones and wife Suzanne, Eric Woolverton and wife Christy, Josh Woolverton and wife Samantha, Jessica Cole and husband Jason, Julie Woolverton and 13 great-grandchildren.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening on Wednesday, the 9th day of May, 2018 in the Parlor and Reflection Room of Rhone Funeral Home.

A funeral service in celebration of June Laverne Woolverton’s life will be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Thursday, the 10th day of May, 2018 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel with Chris Kenner officiating.  Interment will follow in Broyles Chapel Cemetery.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Chuck Jones, Paul Smith, Dylan Smith, Eric Woolverton, Dale Woolverton, Josh Woolverton, Bobby Ray Crawford and Christian Woolverton.  Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. David Thompson, Charles Griffey, Don Woolverton and Jim Turner.
