Kenneth Edward Prater, age 67, of Palestine, passed away on Sunday, the 22nd day of September, 2019, at Palestine Regional Medical Center. He was born on the 19th day of December, 1951, in Palestine, Texas, to Jake Prater and Edwina Starkey Prater.
Mr. Prater worked for B. J. Hughes before his retirement. When his children were young, he enjoyed coaching their t-ball teams. He was an avid fisherman and a member of Walston Springs Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Prater.
Mr. Prater is survived by his daughter, Kendra Stanton and husband Keith of Elkhart; son, Ken Prater and wife Keisha of Bullard; grandchildren, Justyn Prater, Emily Prater, Korbin Stanton and Kamden Stanton; nieces, Stacey Prater and Mendy Prater. He is also survived by his childhood friend, James Earl Rodgers and a dear relative, Rhonda Thomas.
A memorial service with Military Honors to celebrate the life of Kenneth Prater will be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Saturday, the 28th day of September, 2019, in the Rhone Memorial Chapel with Rev. Chuck Bratz and Michael Moore officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Earl Rodgers, Russell Linderman, Jr., Keith Stanton and Buddy Lowe.
