Louis Johnson, of Slocum, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, the 10th day of February, 2019. He passed away at U.T. Health in Tyler at the age of 55. Louis was born on the 6th day of November, 1963, in Crockett, Texas, to Pete Johnson and Billie Jean Reynolds Newman. He worked in the construction industry as a self-employed electrician. Louis could fix anything and would drop what he was doing to help someone in need. He was affectionately called “Boo”, the name given to him by his grandchildren because he always enjoyed scaring them.
He is preceded in death by his father, Pete Johnson; brother, Robert Johnson; and brother-in-law, Garland Wayne Franklin, Jr.
Louis is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Angela Johnson; mother, Billie Jean Newman and step-father, Dewane Newman; step-mother, Patsy Johnson; father-in-law, Wayne Franklin and mother-in-law, Carrie Ann Franklin; daughters, Leeann Camp and husband Brandon of Brownwood, Texas, Andrea McGuire and husband Corey of Marshall, Texas; son, William Johnson and wife Meredith of Longview, Texas; sister, Tracey Yates; brothers, Steven Johnson, Michael Johnson and Allan Johnson; sister-in-law, Wanda Ann Prejean; brother-in-law, Neal Franklin; grandchildren, Kathryn Camp, Michael Camp, Willow Camp, Christopher Camp, Morgan McGuire, Ryan McGuire, Kendall McGuire and Rileigh Schoppe. Louis is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening on Wednesday, the 13th day of February, 2019 in the Parlor and Reflection Room of Rhone Funeral Home.
A funeral service and celebration of Louis’s life will be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Thursday, the 14th day of February, 2019 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel with David Franklin and Deborah Flanagan officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Percilla.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are David Flanagan, Damon Carnes, Skip Franklin, Michael Camp, Wade Prejean and Neal Franklin. Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Camp, Corey McGuire and Haskell Carnes.
