Nancy Ruth Tilson

Nancy Ruth Tilson, age 67, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully on the 9th day of January, 2020, in Tyler, Texas.  She was born on the 19th day of June, 1952, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to parents Johnny Tilson, Jr. and Catherine May Slaybaugh Tilson.

Even though she did not have any children of her own, Nancy, was a mother to everyone.  In her eyes, everyone was family.  She always made people around her feel special, remembering their birthdays and crafting for them a special gift.  Nancy was a Christian and taught Sunday school for over four decades at Eureka Church of Christ in Eureka, Kansas. She loved to bake and at a young age won the baking competition at the local county fair.  Nancy had a sweet, selfless soul that will be sorely missed. 

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jerry Edwin Tilson.

She is survived by her sister, Cathie Sue Biggers of Tempe, Arizona; brothers, Harlan Stevens and Terry Stevens, both of Derby, Kansas; sister-in-law, Darlene Tilson of Elkhart, Texas; nieces Miria Ann Dean and husband Richard Christopher of Elkhart, Texas, Jean Hartman and husband Todd of Rolla, Missouri, Sara Maas and husband Michael of Manassas, Virginia.  She is also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews and other family.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening on Tuesday, the 14th day of January, 2020, at Rhone Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Nancy Tilson will be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 15th day of January, 2020, at Elkhart Church of Christ with Todd Hartman officiating.  Interment will follow in Myrtle Springs Cemetery.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Matthew Toner, Caleb Dean, Ransom Hartman, Premier Hartman, Blake Dean, Cheyenne Gross, Miria Dean, Sara Maas and Jean Hartman.
