Wayne “Sonny” Gannon, age 78, of Palestine, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, the 30th day of September, 2018. He passed away at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in late August. Mr. Gannon was born on the 15th day of October, 1939 in Henrietta, Texas to Virgil Ozell Gannon and Eddie Mildred Cooksey. He was a truck driver for most of his life. Mr. Gannon enjoyed music specifically country and western. He played the guitar and had a very distinctive bass voice. He loved riding motorcycles and four wheelers. Mr. Gannon was a Christian and member of the Church of Christ. He knew his Bible and enjoyed teaching Bible classes. He will be missed by all of his family and friends.
Mr. Gannon is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Idell Gibson.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Luegenia “Lue” Gannon; sons, David Allen Gannon and wife Carolyn of Palestine, Buddy Wayne Gannon of Fairfield, Kenneth Blane Gannon and wife Kathy of Palestine; sisters, Margie Williams of Florida, Donna Pope of Athens; brothers, John Gannon of Tyler, Eddie Cooksey of Palestine and Freddie Cooksey of Palestine; grandchildren, David Wayne Gannon and wife Rachal, Cathrine Michelle Reagan and husband Kris, Timothy William Lewis; great grandchildren, Trindon Jacob Gannon, Kasen Reagan, Trinity Reagan; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
Graveside services for Wayne Gannon will be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 3rd day of October, 2018 at Cedar Creek Cemetery with Donnie Fincher officiating.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions in Wayne Gannon’s memory can be directed towards the World Video Bible School, 25 Lantana Lane, Maxwell, Texas 78656.
