Martha Alyne Oden, age 96, of Palestine, passed peacefully from this life into the loving arms of Jesus on Sunday, the 25th day of April 2021, with her family by her side. Mrs. Oden was born on the 11th day of June 1924, in LaPoynor, Texas, to parents Oliver W. Stringfield and Ada J. Roberts Stringfield.
Born the oldest of nine children, Mrs. Oden naturally had a servant’s heart. She was a mother to everyone and loved her family immensely. Mrs. Oden volunteered much of her time to take care of people, always putting others first. She was a Sunshine Guild Volunteer and received the Lifetime Achievement Award for over thirty years of dedication to the community. Mrs. Oden was a faithful Christian and member of the First Presbyterian Church in Palestine and attended Court Drive Church of Christ in recent years. She was dearly loved by her family and friends and will always hold a special place in their hearts.
Mrs. Oden is preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Ada Stringfield; husband, Carlton Atwood Oden; daughter, Sherry Lynn Clark; son, Carlton Oden; son-in-law, Steve Clark; sisters, Bonnie Bayliss, Alice Berry, Annell Owens, Mary Jo McCalaster; brothers, Carl “Buster” Stringfield, David “Harrison” Stringfield, and Jerry “Gayton” Stringfield, Sr.
Mrs. Oden is survived by her sons, Anthony “Tony” Oden and wife Pam of Palestine, and Timothy Oden and wife Celia of Angleton; brother, Robert Lee Stringfield of Bullard; grandchildren, Stephanie Walden and husband David, Jennifer Collier and husband Mike, Dustin Oden, Tricia Groth and husband Garrett, Sarah Perry-Slosson, Tony Oden, Jr. and wife Brittany, Kristopher Oden and bonus grandchild, Josh Shellenbarger and wife Chanta. Mrs. Oden is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren and numerous family and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Alyne Oden’s life is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 1st day of May 2021 at Court Drive Church of Christ with Paul Jones officiating.
The family will have a private interment at a later date in Land of Memory Cemetery.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Mrs. Oden’s caretaker Eva Cooper and the nurses of Solaris Hospice for the loving care they provided to Mrs. Oden during her last days before her homecoming with the Lord.
