Anita "Nita" Lamb Obituary

Anita Mae Lamb was born in Anderson County, Texas on November 22, 1928, to the late Eli Wesley Teel and Cora Main Teel.  At home surrounded by her loved ones, she passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025.  She was 96 years of age when she was called home by her loving Lord and Savior.

“Nita” as she was best known, graduated from Maydell High School in 1945 and went straight to business school where she finished in early January 1946.  She then began her career in the Anderson County Clerk’s office on January 22, 1946, and worked there until May 12, 1969. Immediately after, Nita went to work for County Judge Link and worked for him until they both retired in 1982.  However, she did not enjoy retirement for very long.  She was called back to work part-time in different offices in the courthouse.  Nita filled in for twelve various county offices and three local attorney offices.  The last four years she worked for four Justices of the Peace and the County Judge.  Nita went through a lot of changes over the years and finally decided to retire for the second time in December of 2024, with seventy years of service.

Nita’s life was truly a testimony of love and hard work.  Until April of this year, she was still mowing her yard and gardening along with all her good cooking. She was also still driving anywhere her heart desired.  Nita was a faithful member of Neches Methodist Church and devoted her life to serving the Lord and others.  She will be missed by all her loved ones, colleagues, and numerous friends.

Nita is preceded in death by her parents Eli and Cora Teel; husband, Lester Lamb; two daughters, Donna Evans and Debbie Modisette; and her special cousin, Mamie Jo Huddleston.

She leaves behind her son, Darwin Lamb and wife Gayle; sister, Leta Alexander; sons-in-law, Larry Evans and Mike Modisette; grandsons, David Modisette and wife Heather, Scott Evans and wife Jenna, D.J. Lamb and wife Jaimie, and Brannon Lamb.  Nita is also survived by her eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, and many friends.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6:00p.m until 8:00p.m. on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Rhone Funeral Home.
