Barbara Jean Council, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away at her home on Sunday, the 24th day of December 2023, at the age of 67. She was born on the 10th day of April 1956, in Houston, Texas, to the late Logan Blake Council and Sudi Juanita Medcalf.
Barbara's journey was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family and her career. She worked many years as the Facility Director with Texas A&M University Food Service on the West Campus. Her professional legacy is characterized by the countless lives she touched through her work, embodying the spirit of hospitality and care that defined her. Barbara moved to Palestine, Texas in 2018. She was an active member of First Methodist Church Palestine.
In her personal life, Barbara was the loving mother of two children, William Charles Roman and Jamie Miranda Speed. Barbara's sister, Patricia Wright, will remember her as not only a sibling but as a confidant and a lifelong friend. She was a loving grandmother to Logan Speed, Colton Speed, Taylor Speed, William Logan Roman, and Charles Liam Roman. She will be greatly missed.
Barbara’s family and friends will be holding a memorial service to celebrate Barbara’s life on January 21, 2024, at 11:30 a.m., immediately following church services.
