Betty Jo Grigsby, age 77, of Elkhart, Texas, left this earth to be with her Heavenly Father, Lord, and Savior on Monday, the 18th day of April 2022. She was born on the 25th day of June 1944, to parents Elwin Smith and Lela Guice Smith in Grapeland, Texas.
Mrs. Grigsby loved her family, her dog “Ede”, and adored her grandchildren. She was an active member of First Baptist Church Elkhart for over 50 years and taught many Sunday school classes. Her and her husband, Buel, took several Sunday school groups and taught them to water ski. In her spare time, she enjoyed crafting, scrapbooking, and recipe books. Her yard was full of beautiful, colorful flowers. She will be greatly missed, but not forgotten. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
Mrs. Grigsby is preceded in death by her parents, Elwin and Lela Smith; sister, Arwena Lively; brother, Harold Smith.
She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Buel Grigsby; daughter, Becky Rutledge and husband Richard of Elkhart; sons, Brent Grigsby and friend Kellie of Palestine, Brian Grigsby and friend Lan of Lake Palestine; grandchildren, Rebecca, Russell, Breanna, Caitlyn, Fisher, and Brooke.
A funeral service to celebrate Betty Grigsby’s life is to be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Friday, the 22nd day of April 2022 at First Baptist Church Elkhart with Bro. Jason Hoffman officiating. Interment will follow in Myrtle Springs Cemetery, Elkhart, Texas.
Friends are invited to visit with the family beginning at nine o’clock in the morning at First Baptist Church Elkhart prior to the start of the service.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Richard Rutledge, Russell Rutledge, Jason Stovall, Bobby Stovall, Steve Hallmark, and Johnnie Keeling.
