Beulah "Jane" Davis Obituary

Beulah Jane Davis, affectionately known as Jane to her friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully on the 22nd day of October 2024, in Tyler, Texas, at the age of 88. Born on the 1st day of January 1936, in Peytona, West Virginia, to parents Joda Paul Nelson and Opal Willie Hunter. Mrs. Davis was always proud of her heritage of being a coal miner’s daughter.

Mrs. Davis moved to Palestine 56 years ago and dedicated many years of service at the Texas Department of Health before her well-deserved retirement. Her commitment to the community that she loved was further evidenced by her years of volunteer work at the local hospital, where her presence was a comfort to patients and staff alike. She was a devoted Christian and member of the Crockett Road Church of Christ, where her deep faith and fellowship at many church events were an integral part of her life.

Mrs. Davis had a love for shopping – a hobby that brought her much joy and allowed her to express her vibrant personality. Her sense of humor was infectious, and she had a unique ability to make everyone around her laugh. Mrs. Davis was the embodiment of friendliness, always ready with a kind word or a warm embrace.

Above all, Mrs. Davis cherished her family, and they cherished her. She was a loving wife for over 62 years to her beloved husband Jim, mother, and grandmother (Nanny) who took great pleasure in spending time with her grandchildren, especially when it involved playing rounds of Skip-Bo, which was met with much enthusiasm, competition, and joy. Her family will hold dear the memories of her spunky personality and the love she so freely gave.

Those who were fortunate enough to cross paths with Mrs. Davis were touched by her kindness and her unwavering positivity. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but the warmth of her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her family and friends.  Mrs. Davis leaves behind her children, Jackie Jennings and husband Steve of Asheville, North Carolina, Karl Davis and wife Elnice of Monroe, Louisiana, Roy Davis and wife D’Anne of Elkhart, Texas, and Jayne Ash and husband Carlton of Granbury, Texas; sister, Barb Michael; and her beloved grandchildren, Bethany Jennings, Becky Conneen, Brittany Wilson, Julie Dash, Jonathan Davis, Lisa Davis, Kelley Gentry, Elizabeth Davis George, Justin Davis, Kyli Davis, Jeremy Ash, and Lauren Ash.  She is also survived by several great-grandchildren with one on-the-way, and many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. Mrs. Davis's life was a testament to the beauty of a joyful heart and the impact one person can have on so many. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by all those who were blessed to know her.

Mrs. Davis is preceded in death by her parents Joda and Opal Nelson, husband Jim Davis, sisters Clara Koontz, Phyllis Carr, JoAnn Morton, and her brothers, Billie Nelson, Joda Paul Nelson, Charles “Snooks” Nelson, and Bobby Nelson.
