Billy Merle Cherry, age 82 of Floresville, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, the 22nd day of August 2021. He was born in Grapeland, Texas on the 8th day of June 1939 to parents Billy B. Cherry and Ruby Prestridge Cherry.
Mr. Cherry was a hard worker and labored for various companies throughout his career. He worked as a truck driver for Murray Company in Palestine, Associated Milk Producers Inc., and retired from Shell Oil as a lease operator. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and new adventures traveling to new places. Mr. Cherry, also, spent a lot of time on the dance floor. He loved dancing and having a good time with his friends and family.
He joins in heaven his parents, Billy and Ruby Cherry, and his brother, Tom Cherry.
Mr. Cherry is survived by his loving family including his daughter, Sheri Jackson of San Antonio; son, Kris Cherry and wife Kandice of Floresville; brother, Jack Cherry and wife Cindy of Palestine; sister-in-law, Dell Cherry; grandchildren, Neal Jackson, Amanda Jackson, Mark Jackson and wife Lizzy, Eleen Jackson, Kolton Cherry and Karlee Cherry. He is additionally survived by his great-granddaughter, Charlotte Jackson, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
Friends are invited to a visitation with the family from three o’clock until five o’clock in the afternoon, on Saturday, the 28th day of August 2021 in the parlor at Rhone Funeral Home.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Cherry can be directed towards a veteran’s organization of your choice.
