Bob Easley

Bobby “Bob” Francis Easley, Sr., of Palestine, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, the 14^th day of December 2022, with his loving wife and son by his side.  He was 74 years of age.  Mr. Easley was born in Palestine, Texas, on the 7^th day of May 1948 to parents F.C. Easley, Jr., and Cora Peevy Easley.   

Mr. Easley embraced life whole heartedly and he always kept busy.  He was a caring man who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, especially local widows.  Mr. Easley graduated from Elkhart High School and Sam Houston State University.  He earned his bachelor’s degree in education and taught for many years.  He began his teaching career at Grapeland I.S.D., later taught for Westwood I.S.D., and finished his career teaching for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Mr. Easley enjoyed scouting out garage sales around town.  At his home he had a workshop full of various items, and he wouldn’t let anyone go home without taking something with them.  Mr. Easley also enjoyed tending to his cows, which he treated more as pets, until his health declined.  He was a member of the First Methodist Church and a 32^nd Degree Mason of the Masonic Lodge in Elkhart.  Mr. Easley will be remembered for his love of his family and his many friends that will cherish his memory forever.  

He is preceded in death by his parents F.C. and Cora Easley, and his brother, Jerry Easley.

Mr. Easley is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years Glenda Easley; son, Frank Easley and wife Anna; sisters, Winnie Kirk, and Pat Wallace and husband Raymond; brother, Dwain Easley and wife Linda; and his beloved grandchildren, Ava, and Alexander.  He also leaves behind many other family members and friends.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening on Monday, the 19^th day of December 2022 at Rhone Funeral Home.

Funeral services to honor Bob Easley’s life are to be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Tuesday, the 20^th day of December 2022 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel with Geoff Lightsey officiating the service.  Interment will follow in Strongs Memorial Park in Elkhart, Texas.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Ronnie McKinney, Hayden Parsons, Bill Fraser, Kenneth Dickson, Dwain Harris, and Phillip Davis.  Honorary pallbearers include Charles Richardson, Brince Dickson, Doyle Campbell, and Bill Dunnam.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bob Easley’s memory can be directed towards Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, 2222 Welborn St., Dallas, Texas 75219 or the First Methodist Church of Palestine, or First Methodist Church of Elkhart.
