Brandy Joy Burgess

Brandy Joy Burgess, a beloved daughter, sister, and friend, passed away suddenly at her home at the age of 42, in Palestine, Texas, on Monday, the 22nd day of May 2023. Born on the 26th day of August 1980, in Sulphur Springs, Texas, to parents James Burgess and Emma Highnote Burgess.

Brandy was a woman of many interests, finding joy and solace in the simple pleasures of life. She loved spending time outdoors, often embarking on fishing trips to unwind and connect with nature. Brandy was also a regular attendee at Canton Trade Days and enjoyed perusing garage sales in search of hidden treasures. Her keen eye for unique finds was a testament to her appreciation for the beauty and wonder in everyday objects.

A true people person, Brandy never met a stranger. She lived by the Golden Rule, treating everyone with the kindness and respect she believed each person deserved. This philosophy guided her interactions with others, earning her a reputation as a compassionate and empathetic friend. Brandy's unwavering faith in the Lord instilled in her the belief that we will all answer to a higher power, shaping her actions and decisions throughout her life. Children held a special place in Brandy's heart, and she treated every child she encountered as if they were her own. Brandy will forever be remembered as a shining example of what it means to be a kind, thoughtful, and gentle soul, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Brandy leaves behind her loving parents James and Emma Burgess; sister, Misty Easley; brother, Tony Burgess; nieces, Madison Dean, Daisy Folsom, Audrie Mendoza; nephews, Jayden Zontak, Aiden Burgess; great nephew, Matteo Castorena “Chunky Monkey”; best friend and fiancé, Chris Pennock and son Killion; and best bingo buddy and second mom, Donna Wilson. She also leaves behind several aunts and uncles, other family members and friends.

The family will host a celebration of life service to honor Brandy Burgess’s life at a later date.
