Bruce Hill Obituary

Bruce Allen Hill, age 77, of Palestine, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on June 18, 2026. Born on March 29, 1949, in Lebanon, New Hampshire. Bruce was the son of Wallace Clyde Hill and Agnes Estella Frye Hill.

Bruce attended public schools in Laramie, Wyoming, after the family relocated from New Hampshire when he was a baby. In his high school years, Bruce worked at Albertsons Grocery Store in Laramie and bought his first truck, a 1953 International.

Bruce honorably served his country in the United States Army in Vietnam. He carried the values of discipline, dedication and patriotism throughout his entire life. He had a lifelong passion for admiring antique trucks and historic military vehicles. He spent many years as a paint and body man, and for a time, had his own shop in Palestine. He was also a good mechanic and enjoyed working on his many vehicles over the years. Bruce had a profound love for all animals, sharing an especially deep bond with his cherished cats. Bruce loved music, and would restore antique console record players to play his albums and 45’s. He enjoyed whistling his favorite songs perfectly and everyone enjoyed listening.

Bruce was devoted to his family and in later years would travel often to visit family members. After his military service he took over the role of head of household for his mother and younger sisters. Bruce had a lighthearted and playful approach to life, he was always laughing, telling jokes, and keeping everyone’s spirits up, even in difficult times. He made friends with his sunny and positive disposition anywhere he went.

He was known for being generous to a fault, Bruce would truly give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. His simple approach to life, combined with his loving heart, left an undeniable mark on everyone who knew him.

His last days at home were truly something he would have wanted. He was recovering well from heart surgery, making plans and being positive about the future, playing his music, visiting with his loved ones and being at home with his fur babies.
