Cannon David Brummett, age 22, of Palestine, Texas passed away at his residence on Saturday, the 9th day of December 2023. He was born on the 19th day of January 2001, in Palestine, Texas, to parents Richard Brummett and Heidi Johnson Brummett.
A proud graduate of Westwood Independent School class of 2020, Cannon's academic journey was marked by dedication and a desire to serve others. His high school years were filled with meaningful activities; he served as an FFA officer, showcasing his passion for animals and agriculture, and he was also the videographer for the football team, capturing moments of triumph and camaraderie on the field.
He had a passion for working with animals. He dreamed of owning a farm and was excited about the plans he had prepared toward that vision. His dream of becoming a paramedic reflected his thoughtful and caring nature. Cannon loved cooking, was a very talented artist, and greatly enjoyed music that was popular before his time. “No Milk Today” by Herman’s Hermits being one of his all-time favorites.
Cannon was a loving mentor to his younger brother Cayden, even dedicating his time as coach of the Westwood Little League Team. He was known to be one you could count on, always ready and eager to help those around him with a smile on his face. He was a young man whose heart was set on making a difference in the world, one act of kindness at a time.
At such a young age, Cannon is survived by both parents, Richard and Heidi Brummett; three brothers, Christian Brummett and wife Tara, Cameron Brummett, and Cayden Fulcher; paternal and maternal grandparents, Diane Brummett, Arthur and Paula Johnson, and Vicki McGill. He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other family members, and a host of friends.
A funeral service to celebrate Cannon’s life is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon, on Tuesday, the 19th day of December 2023, at Dogwood Hills Baptist Church. Bro. Kevin Willmott will be officiating the service. Interment will follow in Chambers Day Cemetery.
Friends are invited to visit with the family one hour prior to the start of the service at Dogwood Hills Baptist Church.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Christian Brummett, Cayden Fulcher, Johnnie Bassett, Waden Bassett, Trey Duran, Jacob Beckham, Richard Brummett, Archie VanWey, Aaron Asberry, and Bobby Henson.
