Carolyn Louella Woodward Bledsoe, of Montalba, Texas, was born in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, on the 20th day of February 1932, and passed away peacefully at Greenbriar Nursing Center in Palestine, Texas, on Friday, the 3rd day of December 2021. Mrs. Bledsoe was 89 years of age.
Mrs. Bledsoe was born and raised in Oklahoma to parents Raymond Loren Woodward and Lola Marie Kickel Woodward. She married the love of her life in 1951, Charles Bledsoe, and the two were married for over seventy years. Mrs. Bledsoe had an outgoing personality and enjoyed spending time volunteering. She was a former member of The Gideons Auxiliary, President of the Huntsville Newcomers Club and Co-Chair of Foreign Students at San Jacinto College. Mrs. Bledsoe also previously worked for State Representative Allen Hightower as a secretary before retiring. She was an active member of Montalba Baptist Church until her health declined and she was not able to attend. Mrs. Bledsoe had a vision over fifteen years ago and helped see that vision come to life with “Walk Through Bethlehem”.
Mrs. Bledsoe is preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Lola Woodward, son, Mark Steven Bledsoe, and sister-in-law, Dr. Sharon Necessary.
She is survived by her loving husband, Charles Bledsoe; son, Charles “Chuck” Lee Bledsoe and wife Sandy of Montalba, Texas; sister, Janice Wilson of Sweeny, Texas; brother, Carl (Bud) Woodward of Houston, Texas; brother-in-law, Darrell Necessary of Temple, Texas; and two grandchildren, Stephanie Lee Bachle and husband Christopher, and Ray Davis and wife Judy. She also leaves behind numerous other family members and a multitude of friends.
A funeral service to celebrate Mrs. Bledsoe’s life is to be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning, on Thursday, the 9th day of December 2021 at Montalba Baptist Church. Bro. Wayne Frazier and Bro. Rod Skelton will officiate the service. Friends are invited to visit with the family one hour prior to the start of the service.
A graveside service will be conducted the following day, on Friday, the 10th day of December 2021, at twelve o’clock, at Sweeny Cemetery in Sweeny, Texas.
Those honored to serve as honorary pallbearers are Mrs. Bledsoe’s nephews and the men of Montalba Baptist Church.
