Carroll Jones Obituary

Carroll L. Jones, of Palestine, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, the 24th day of March 2026, with his loving wife by his side.  “C.L.” as he was best known, was 82 years of age.  He was born on the 6th day of April 1943 in Doddridge, Arkansas to parents Harvey Jones and Opal Greene Jones.

C.L. was a man of quiet strength and dry wit.  A proud veteran, he enlisted in the Air Force following his graduation from high school in Brightstar, Texas, serving his country during the Vietnam War. This early chapter of service preceded a long and dedicated career with Hunt Oil. Known for his mechanical skill and reliability, he worked in rig maintenance and eventually served as a Shop Foreman in Yemen, retiring after years of dedicated service.

Beyond his professional life, C.L. was a man of many passions. He was happiest when working outdoors or exploring the wilderness, frequently traveling to Colorado and Alaska for hunting trips. At home, he could often be found tinkering with old cars, holding a special affection for his Model T. An avid reader of western books and viewer of Westerns, he also possessed a deep knowledge of World War II history.  Above all, C.L. was a devoted husband who deeply loved his wife.

He is preceded in death by his parents Harvey and Opal Jones; sister, Joann Williamson; and his brothers, Albert Jones and Jerry Jones.

C.L. leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Judith Doreen Anderson Jones; sister-in-law, Alyce Malladay and husband Bob; brothers-in-law, David Anderson and wife Mary and Donald Anderson and wife Patty.  He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Becky, Christina, Keith, David, Rebecca, Chelsea, Don Jr., Derrick, Chaz, Josh, Sara, April, and David. C.L.’s home was always a sanctuary for animals, in addition he leaves behind his beloved dogs, Pepper and Shiloh, and his many cats, including his special cat caregiver, Rocky Marie.  C.L. was fiercely loved and his steady presence and subtle humor will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A service is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 11th day of April 2026 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel.  Friends are invited to visit with the family one hour prior to the start of the service.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all his neighbors on Crow Lake Road for their kindness and community over the years. Also, they would like to extend their appreciation to Heart to Heart Hospice and C.L.’s caregivers, Kasey Walker and Andrea Bennett, for their excellent care.
