Charlene Anderson Obituary

Charlene Anderson, age 87, of Shepherd, Texas passed away peacefully on Tuesday, the 17th day of September 2024 at Palestine Regional Hospital. She was born in Belton, Texas on the 22nd day of August 1937 to parents Reb Vernon Wood and Gladys Huey. Charlene's life was characterized by her loving nature, her kindheartedness, and her friendly demeanor, touching the lives of all who knew her.

Charlene's home was the heart of many gatherings, and her kitchen was the site of countless cherished moments. Grandchildren fondly recall the simple joy of cold milk and Oreo cookies at her house, a testament to the love she poured into every interaction. She was famed for her special desserts, which were the highlight of holiday celebrations, and her house was always a welcoming hub of activity and togetherness.

Beyond her family, Charlene had a passion for her community, particularly the seniors she so lovingly coordinated events for at the senior center in Shepherd. She was a pillar of her community, always ready to lend a hand or a listening ear. Her love for her family extended to every person she met, and she cared for everyone with an open heart.

In every aspect of her life, Charlene exemplified the qualities of a truly loving, kind, and friendly individual. Her absence will be profoundly felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was a woman of grace and generosity, and her memory will continue to inspire those she has left behind.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Reb and Gladys Wood; husband, Gary R. Anderson; sister, Louise Jones; and her brother, Vernon Wood.

Charlene leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her sons, Randy Anderson and wife Teressa, Kevin Anderson and wife Vicki, and Keith Anderson and wife Dajuana. Her brothers, Larry Wood, and “Buddy” Silas will hold dear the memories of their sister's boundless love and kind spirit. Charlene's grandchildren—Gary Lee, Christy, Justin, Robert, Kimberly, Shaun, Kristin, Kelby, Taylor, Kameron, Esther, and her eight great grandchildren—will forever be inspired by their grandmother's caring heart and joyful demeanor.
