Charles Wayne McGowen, age 68, of Palestine, Texas, passed away on December 28, 2025. Born on August 15, 1957, in Houston, Texas, Charles was the son of Charlie Orlando and Carolyn Sue McGowen. His warm presence and kind-hearted nature will be profoundly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Charles is survived by his daughter, Olivia McGowen of New York; his son, Scott McGowen and wife Michelle of Houston; and sisters, Marion Sultenfuss, Patsy Simpson, and Penny Smith. His legacy continues through his adored grandchildren, Evan and Jade, who will carry forward the memories of their grandfather's love and teachings.
A man of many interests, Charles found joy in the great outdoors. He was an avid shooter, relishing the focus and skill involved in the sport. Riding motorcycles was not just a hobby but a passion for Charles, as it gave him a sense of freedom and adventure that he cherished deeply. Above all, his heart belonged to his family, whom he loved most dearly. The time spent with his children and grandchildren was the source of his greatest joy and pride.
The family will honor Charles’s memory with Military Honors at the Houston National Cemetery.
