Charles Wayne Sanders, age 73, of Palestine, left this world for his heavenly home with our Lord on Thursday, the 24th day of June 2021. Mr. Sanders passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on the 11th day of July 1947, in Tyler, Texas, to parents Charles Everett Sanders and Lillian Murl “Pete” Halbert Sanders.
Mr. Sanders was a man who loved his family and especially his grandchildren with all his heart. He was a devoted Christian and a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Montalba. Mr. Sanders was a hard worker who could build a home from the ground until completion. He also built computers and was a talented woodworker. Mr. Sanders contributed a great deal to this country when he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a man of great character and will always be missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Lillian Sanders, daughter-in-law Kimberly Ann Sanders, and brother, Robert Neal Sanders.
Mr. Sanders leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Nelda Kay Sanders; sons, Kevin Wayne Sanders and wife Crystal, and Jason Ra Sanders; brothers, Larry Gene Sanders, and Rodney Lynn Sanders and wife Bridgett Ann. He also leaves behind several grandchildren, Austin Sanders and wife Amanda, Chelsea Lynn Peters and husband Shane, Shelby Kay and husband Logan Barnes, Casey June Sanders, Marissa Paige Sanders, Cody Ra Sanders and wife Makayla, Taylor Lynn Sanders, Peyton Kaye Sanders, Cory Lynn Sanders and Hailey Villarreal and husband Alex; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening on Saturday, the 26th day of June 2021 at Rhone Funeral Home.
A funeral service to celebrate Charles Sanders life is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 27th day of June 2021 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel. Bro. Jerry Horine will be officiating the service. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Rusk, Texas.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Cody Sanders, Austin Sanders, Cory Sanders, Alex Villarreal, Logan Barnes, and Toby Jordan.
