Charlie Goodson Obituary

Charlie Ernest Goodson, age 83, of Palestine, Texas went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, the 16th day of December 2025. He was born on the 22nd day of June 1942 in Port Arthur, Texas, to parents Harold Preston Goodson and Laverne Elkins Goodson. Charlie's life was a testament to the values he held dear: faith, generosity, and a passionate love for his family.

A member of the First Baptist Church Neches, Charlie's faith was the cornerstone of his life. He was compassionate about teaching Sunday School and helping with VBS. Charlie's love for the Lord was evident in every aspect of his life, and he never missed an opportunity to share his faith with others.

Charlie's love for his family was paralleled by his love for farming, raising cows, and gardening. His days spent tending to the land and caring for his animals brought him great joy. Charlie also found great satisfaction in his work at the post office, where he was a fair and compassionate supervisor who loved his employees.

Above all, Charlie loved seeing his family having fun. He was the heart of family gatherings, where his laughter was infectious, and his stories were cherished. His generous spirit ensured that everyone felt welcomed and loved. Charlie's passion for life was evident in everything he did, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Laverne Goodson; wife, Evelyn L. Goodson; and brother, Harold Dean Goodson.

Charlie's legacy is carried on by his loving family, including his son, Charlie Goodson Jr. of Palestine; his daughter, Rhonda Gayle Cox and her husband Tracy of Palestine; his sisters, Lynette Goodson and Connie Sirtautas; his cherished grandchildren, Charlie Goodson III, Courtney Donovan, Deana Goodson, Preston Goodson Cox, Lorne Goodson Cox, and Charlie Goodson Cox; and his adored great-grandchildren, Aaron Goodson, Kylee Goodson, Rachel DeLayne, Carter Goodson, Scarlet Anderson, Nina Anderson, and Samantha Cox; and numerous nieces and nephews. Each of them was a source of immense pride and joy for Charlie, and he relished every moment spent in their company.
