Cheryl Lynn Hanes, age 76, of Tennessee Colony, Texas, left this earth for her heavenly home on Sunday, the 17th day of December 2023, at home with her devoted husband by her side. Mrs. Hanes was born on the 8th day of July 1947, in Detroit, Michigan, to parents Edgar Charles Ring and Ethel Pearl Van Ring.
“Sunny”, as she was affectionately known, is survived by her husband of 30 years, Calvin Hanes; daughter, Amy Barron; sons, Steve Thrasher, and Brian Thrasher; grandchildren, Steve Thrasher, II, Emily Lute, Thalia Barron, and Alexi Barron. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Victory Lute, Sophia Lute, and Nora Thrasher, along with many other family members and friends.
Mrs. Hanes is preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Hanes, whose kindness touched the lives of many, dedicated years of service as a clerk for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, where her diligence and warmth were felt by all who had the pleasure of working alongside her. Married for three decades, Mrs. Hanes's commitment to her family was solid, her love a constant source of strength and inspiration.
A lover of music, Mrs. Hanes's soul swayed to the tunes of Bob Seger. Her love for all creatures great and small was evident in her adoration for animals, with a special place in her heart for dogs and cats, whom she regarded as part of her extended family. Her creative spirit found joy in the art of crocheting, a hobby through which she crafted not just beautiful pieces but also woven threads of love and care into each creation. As we bid farewell to Mrs. Hanes, we celebrate a life truly well-lived, a life that will continue to echo in the countless lives she touched.
In honor of her wishes, Mrs. Hanes will be cremated.
