Christy Ann Harris, age 45, of Palestine, passed away at M.D. Anderson Hospital on Sunday, the 31st day of October 2021. She was born on the 12th day of December 1975, in Palestine, Texas to parents Dwain Harris and Danelle Morehead Harris.
Ms Harris graduated from Elkhart High School in Elkhart, Texas and earned her associates degree in English from San Jacinto College. Christy worked at T.D.C.J., as a correction officer, a dispatcher for San Jacinto Campuses, certified pharmacy tech, and a substitute teacher. She was a Methodist and an active member on the Guiceland Cemetery Board. Christy loved being with her family and friends.
Christy leaves behind her parents, Dwain Harris and Danelle Buckholtz; stepdad, Charles Buckholtz; boyfriend, Cameron Brummet; sisters, Niki Whiteside and husband Morris and Gina Lewis; aunt and uncle, Jo and Ricky Oster; cousins, Gregg Rutledge and Ginger Bishop. Also left with wonderful memories of Christy are her nieces and nephews who loved their “Aunt Cah-Cah” immensely, Casey Whiteside, Haley Corvera, Morgan Whiteside, Sophie Whiteside, and a special nephew, Cason Lewis. Cason was raised by his aunt and grandmother and due to 15 years of living together, starting at the age of two, starting school, learning growing activities, bringing them a mother-son relationship.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, O.M (Boots) Harris, Beatrice Harris, Alton Morehead and Lois Morehead; longtime shelter dog, Lucky, who died on September 7, 2021, after he grieved himself to death due to missing Christy when she was away for treatments.
A Celebration of Life service to honor Christy’s life is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 5th day of November 2021 at Guiceland Church, 4057 Anderson County Road 174, Grapeland, Texas, with Bro. David Franklin officiating. Interment will follow in Guiceland Cemetery.
Friends are invited to visit with the family beginning at one o’clock at Guiceland Church prior to the start of the service.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Cameron Brummett, Cannon Brummett, Christian Brummett, Sophie Whiteside, Niki Whiteside, Cason Lewis, Devon Wyse, and Michael Beasley. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Morris Whiteside and Gina Lewis.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Frank Fossella, Ms. Liz Waxman, and all the care team at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center who joined in the treatment fight with Christy.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions can be directed towards Christy’s various requests; M.D Anderson Care Center, BARC - The Humane Society, or Guiceland Cemetery Fund.
