Cinda Sue McCaghren Scott, of Palestine, Texas, joined her husband in Heaven on Friday, the 14th day of April 2023. Mrs. Scott passed away peacefully at the age of 83. She was born in Matador, Texas, on the 29th day of August 1939 to parents William Franklin McCaghren and Thelma Judine Watson McCaghren.
Mrs. Scott was a talented educator, loyal friend, cherished wife, beloved parent, and grandparent, but most importantly, she was a child of God. Marrying at a young age, Mrs. Scott became the wife to a Baptist preacher, Darwin Scott. The couple were blessed with two children, Ray, and Gayla, and they lived a fulfilling life, ministering and traveling the world, until her husband’s untimely passing.
Through the years in the ministry, she devoted much of her life to serving in different capacities in the church, either teaching classes or volunteering her time wherever she was needed. One of Mrs. Scott’s greatest accomplishments in life, she considered, was raising her children and grandchildren to know the Lord.
Mrs. Scott was a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in education. Throughout her career, she held a variety of elementary teaching positions before retiring after 20 years of dedication to the profession. After retiring, she became a member of the local retired teachers club and looked forward to lunches with her longtime colleagues.
“Mimi”, as she was affectionately known by her grandchildren, will be profoundly missed, and never forgotten. Her family finds great comfort that she has finally been reunited with her husband after so many years apart.
In Heaven, Mrs. Scott joins her parents William and Thelma McCaghren, husband Darwin Scott, and her brother, W. F. McCaghren.
Mrs. Scott was dearly loved by her family and will continue to live in the hearts of her daughter, Gayla Scott Hudson and husband Jim; son, Darwin Ray Scott, Jr. and wife Dianne; grandchildren, Cinda Warren and husband Cale, Jared Hudson and wife Ashley, Kristen Parnell and husband David, and Brian Scott and wife Anna. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Aiden Hudson, Layla Hudson, Scarlet Hudson, Wes Hudson, Cecil Warren, Brooklynn Parnell, Branson Parnell, Bristol Parnell, Briggs Parnell, Easton Scott, Walker Scott, and Tyler Scott, and other family members, and friends.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock until seven o’clock in the evening, on Friday, the 21st day of April 2023 at Rhone Funeral Home.
