Craig Schitoskey Obituary

On Wednesday, the 17th day of May 2023, Fred Craig Schitoskey, of Palestine, Texas, drew his last breath surrounded by his devoted family.  He was 61 years of age when his journey on this earth came to an end, and he is now in the presence of our loving Lord and Savior.  Craig was born in Athens, Texas on the 16th day of October 1961, to parents Luther Fred Schitoskey and Glenda Rose Massey Schitoskey.

Craig was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  His family was always near and dear to his heart, and he always made them number one in his life.  He was a devoted member of Friendship Baptist Church where he worshipped the Lord with his church family.

Craig worked as a foreman in the coal mines and retired as a supervisor after many years of dedicated service. He had a passion for ranching and working cattle. Most memories of Craig, it seems, consist of him in the hayfield.  He loved to drive his tractors and bulldozers working on the family land. To say he was a hard worker would be an understatement.  When he wasn’t working, Craig enjoyed camping and making memories with his family.

Craig had an outgoing personality that made others feel comfortable around him in any situation.  He was always considerate of others needs and had a hard time telling people “No”.  He loved to help anyone and was always generous with his time.  Craig was dearly loved by his family and friends and his untimely passing will be felt every day until the day we join him in Heaven.

He is preceded in death by his parents Luther and Glenda Schitoskey, and his sister, Laurie Schitoskey.

Craig leaves behind his loving wife of 39 years, Kim Schitoskey; daughters, Jennifer Moore and husband Austin, and Brooke Barnett and husband Jarrett, all of Palestine, Texas; sister, Lisa Schitoskey of Chandler, Texas; and his grandsons, whom he loved dearly, Levi, Jaxson, A.J., Holton, Harlon, and his granddaughter on-the-way, Laurel.  Also left to cherish the memories of Craig are his other family members and numerous friends.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening on Sunday, the 21st day of May 2023, at Rhone Funeral Home.
