Danny Joe Knight

Danny Joe Knight, age 71, of Gilmer, passed from this life to the next on Wednesday, the 12th day of May 2021, in the presence of his family at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview.  Mr. Knight was born on the 14th day of December 1949, in Gilmer, Texas, to parents Jake and Wanda Posey Knight.

Mr. Knight was a kind and generous man.  He was extraordinarily dependable and always found time to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He enjoyed working on Big Rigs and was an excellent carpenter. He built swings, among many other products, for his family to enjoy. Mr. Knight was a truck driver for over 45 years.  He drove many miles and saw most parts of the United States throughout his career. His loving and gentle soul will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.

Mr. Knight was greeted in heaven by his parents, Jake and Wanda Knight; brother, David Knight; and sister-in-law, Dianna Wagner. 

Those left to cherish his memories include his loving wife of almost 19 years, Debbie Knight; stepsons, Shane Rhone and wife Regina, and Larry Rhone; sisters, Billie Gilmore, and Sylvia Barnhart; brothers, Kenny Knight, and Jake Knight; brothers-in-law, Timothy Dobbs and Ricky Wagner; sister-in-law, Becky Hardin; grandchildren, Kayla Doolittle, Madison Rhone, and Brantley Rhone; nephews, Jason Knight and wife Monica, and Jacob Knight.  Mr. Knight is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Friends are invited to join the family and celebrate Mr. Knight’s life at a graveside service at one o’clock in the afternoon, on Saturday, the 15th day of May 2021 at Holly Springs Cemetery in Montalba.  Pastor Ray Evers will be officiating the service.
