Daphne Prince Obituary

Daphne Wynema Prince, of Palestine, Texas, passed away peacefully on the 25th day of October 2024, in Palestine, Texas, at the age of 92.  She was born on the 14th day of October 1932, in Talihina, Oklahoma, to parents Arlis L. Stewart and Mildred Elizabeth McDaniel. Before retiring, Mrs. Prince dedicated many years to meticulous work as a bookkeeper. Her precision and reliability made her a respected professional in her field. Beyond her professional life, Mrs. Prince was a longtime dedicated member of the Crockett Road Church of Christ. Her commitment to the Lord and church community was evident in her enthusiastic participation in worship services, where she found joy in singing and serving alongside fellow Christians.

Mrs. Prince's interests painted the picture of a woman who cherished the simple pleasures of life. She had a deep appreciation for bluegrass music and skillfully learned to play the bass fiddle, an instrument that resonated with the rhythm of her soul. Mrs. Prince's hands were rarely still, as she loved to sew and crochet, creating beautiful pieces that were both practical and artistic.

Nature, especially in Oklahoma, held a special place in Mrs. Prince's heart. She was often found marveling at the beauty of mountains, trees, and flowers, which she knew was the beauty of God’s creation. In her younger years, she enjoyed the lively steps and camaraderie of square dancing, an activity that reflected her vibrant spirit.

Loving, faith-filled, and selfless are words that best describe Mrs. Prince. Her love was a comforting blanket to those around her, her faith was as unwavering as the mountains she adored, and her selflessness was a beacon that guided her actions. Mrs. Prince's life and love for her family were a testament to the values she held dear, and her legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.

She is preceded in death by her parents Arlis and Mildred Stewart, husband Richard “R.D.” Prince, and her brothers Orvall Stewart and Andrew Stewart.

Mrs. Prince is survived by her sons, Dan Rose and wife Kathleen of Palestine, Texas, and Arlis “Jack” Rose and wife Debra of McLean, Texas; step daughter, Connie Potts; step son, Phillip Prince; grandchildren, Miki Schmidt, Mandy Casey, Jeremy Simpson, Amy Dehls, Kory Brown, and Stacy Lovejoy.  She also leaves behind several step grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, other family members, and many friends. Mrs. Prince's presence will be deeply missed by her church family, friends, and all who were touched by her kindness.
