David Byron Griffin

Memorial service for David Griffin has rescheduled for Saturday, February 27, 2021.

David Byron Griffin was born on May 28th, 1952 and left his earthly home on January 23rd, 2021. He was born in Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts to parents Mike and Barbara Griffin.

David worked for Anderson County, and the State of Texas for many years. He retired from Alzeway Boys’ Ranch in 2016, after 10 years of faithful service. David enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and watching the Dallas Cowboy’s football games. He graduated from Lufkin High school in 1971. He proudly served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Airforce from 1971 to 1977. David’s specialty was Security Forces. He also served as a Security Inspector while in the Airforce.

David was loved by many. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. He was a beloved grandfather as well as a great grandfather and all his grandchildren loved him dearly.

He is survived by his daughters, Eryn Gochnour and husband Jacob, Glenda Griffin and husband Maurice Donnelly, Sylvia Odegaard and husband Scott, and Sherry Griffin; son, Glenn Burchard and wife Jennifer; brothers, Mike Griffin, Jeff Griffin, Jim Griffin and wife Cathy; sister, Pamela Hill and husband Jim; 10 grandchildren; and one great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Barbara Griffin and wife Jan Griffin.

A memorial service to celebrate Mr. Griffin’s life is to be conducted at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, February 27th, 2021, at Rhone Funeral Home in Palestine, Texas.
