David Lee Hinson, Jr., age 63, of Palestine, Texas, passed away at Palestine Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, the 31st day of October 2023 with his family by his side. He was born on the 8th day of March 1960, in Houston, Texas, to parents David Lee Hinson and Mary Rachel Holley Hinson.
David was known for his straightforward nature and his love for children. He had a knack for making kids feel special and loved, often going out of his way to bring a smile to their faces. David was also known for his ornery character, always standing up for what he believed in and never shying away from expressing his views. His honesty and integrity were admired by all who knew him.
An avid outdoorsman, David found peace and joy in nature. He was a skilled hunter and fisherman, who loved nothing more than spending a day in the great outdoors. His love for animals extended beyond the wild, as he had a deep affection for his dogs, who were his constant companions and brought him immeasurable joy. David spent his professional life serving as a correctional officer.
In his passing, we remember David not with sadness, but with gratitude for having had the privilege of knowing such a remarkable man. His legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will continue to inspire those who knew him. David will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
David is now reunited with his beloved parents, David and Mary Hinson.
David was a beloved brother to Gaye Karriker and her husband Jerry Jr. David was a devoted uncle to his nieces Rachel Pena, Codye Facio and husband Javi, and Beth Bond and husband Jonathan. He also held a special place in his heart for his nephew, J.R. Karriker III, and great nieces and nephews, Brayden Gruetzner, Jayden Lann, Macie Facio, Lexie Facio, Corbyn Ray, Ethan Karriker, Allyson Karriker, and Lakelyn Bond. Daivd also leaves behind his adopted family, Virginia and Cecil Stanaland, Eddie and Robin Stanaland, and their children and grandchildren. His family will remember him as a pillar of strength and a source of unwavering love.
