Donald G. “Bud” Springer, a man of great humor and generosity, passed away on Sunday, the 2nd day of November 2025, at the age of 72. Donald was born on the 4th day of January 1953 in Palestine, Texas to parents George Springer and Jessie Hyett Springer.
Bud proudly served his country in the United States Navy, a period of his life that instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried into his life. His service was a testament to his dedication and love for his country, and it was an experience that shaped much of his character.
Bud served as a firearm instructor and captain at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for 20 years, working at the Beto Unit before his well-earned retirement. A lover of guns and knives, Bud was also known for his great sense of humor and his admiration for Chuck Norris, often sharing jokes and stories that showcased his playful nature. Bud's wife, Patricia, lovingly referred to him as Honey. He will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents George and Jessie Springer; wife, Patricia Springer; brother, Danny Springer; and grandchildren, Zach and Jesse.
Bud is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Jessica Springer and Kelli Green; his sons, Kyle Palmer and his wife Jammi, and Keith Palmer; his sister, Barbara Williams; his cherished grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kelsi, Kaden, Kennedy, Korbin, Haley, and Aspyn; and his adored great-grandchildren, Jax and Dawson. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, other family members, and a host of friends who were touched by his kind and funny nature.
Memorial services to celebrate the life of Bud Springer with Military Honors will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon, on Sunday, the 16th day of November 2025, in the Rhone Memorial Chapel.
