Donald Richard Rohasek, of Elkhart, Texas, known affectionately as Don, passed away peacefully in Tyler, Texas, on April 22, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on November 27, 1957, to parents Richard Rohasek and Janet Baker Rohasek, in Phoenix, Arizona, Don's early years were marked by resilience when, at the tender age of ten, he lost his mother and went to live with his loving aunt. Despite these early trials, Don grew into a man characterized by his adventurous spirit, loving heart, and handy nature.
Don completed his high school education and went on to earn an associate's degree. His professional life was spent in the construction industry, where he worked as a dedicated contractor. Outside of work, Don was a true outdoorsman who cherished the time he spent in nature. Hunting and fishing were not mere hobbies but passions that connected him to the simplicity of life. His love for these pursuits was matched only by his enthusiasm for his extensive gun collection, a testament to his appreciation for craftsmanship and heritage.
Don was a simple man, a good old country boy at heart, whose presence brought comfort and joy to those around him. The term "handy" could not more aptly describe Don; he had a knack for fixing anything that needed repair, and his skills were always offered with a warm smile. His memory will continue to inspire those who knew him to embrace life's adventures, cherish simple pleasures, and cultivate the bonds of love and friendship.
Don is survived by his wife of over 30 years, Melissa Calk Rohasek; daughter, Lorie Funes; stepdaughter, Ashley Haren; son, Ty Logan Rohasek; siblings, Gayle Eriksson, Lynne Walker, Vicki Soule, Gary Peterson, Dr. Robert Soule, Jr., Dorris James, Dee Yeager, Ron Soule, Kent Soule, and Denise Soule. He also leaves behind his beloved eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and other family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Richard and Janet Rohasek; his sister, Debbie Soule; his brother, Jimmy Hall; his aunt, Dortha Bond (Baker); and his uncle, Robert M. Soule.
