Douglas “Doug” Henry Farmer, age 73, of Forney, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, the 8th day of December 2022. He was born in Wharton, Texas, on the 1st day of February 1949, to parents Robert Farmer and Hildegarde Ganske Farmer.
Doug was a good, genuine man with a humble heart. He loved his family dearly and he always supported his grandchildren at all their school activities and sporting events. Doug had a long career working for Atmos Energy. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed gardening in his vegetable garden and farming. He also had a fondness for Blizzards at Dairy Queen.
Doug had a passion for many sports. He loved watching football and basketball, from the high school level up to the professionals. Most importantly, Doug was a Baptist who enjoyed reading his Bible. He loved the Lord and had a longing to one day live with Him in Heaven. He will be sorely missed and never forgotten.
Doug is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Hildegarde Farmer, and his brother, Robert “Bobby” Farmer.
Doug is survived by his children, Jennifer Farmer, Brandon Ferrell and wife Andrea; Jessica Torrez, Stephanie Vaughn and husband Michael, and Jason Farmer and wife Mallory; sisters, Olivia Brower and husband Charlie, Jean Wunderlich and husband Terry; and his beloved grandchildren, Melanie Farmer, Steven Wingfield, Dallas Ferrell, Jordan Stanphill, Austin Ferrell, Addison Ferrell, Pepper Vaughn, Korie Farmer, and one on the way. He also leaves behind other family members and many friends.
Graveside services to celebrate Doug Farmer’s life are to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 18th day of December 2022 at Tennessee Colony Cemetery.
Funeral services for Douglas Henry Farmer are in care of Rhone Funeral Home, 3900 S. State Highway 19, Palestine, Texas.
