William Earl Worley, of Palestine, went home to our loving Lord and Savior on Tuesday, the 4th day of June, 2019. He passed away at Elkhart Oaks Care Center in Elkhart at the age of 81. Mr. Worley was born on the 26th day of September, 1937, in Port Arthur, Texas, to William Therrel Worley and Hazel Burke Worley.
In his earlier years, Mr. Worley served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. After returning home, he worked at Knox Glass for over 25 years before retiring. He then worked for Anderson County Precinct 1 under Joe Chaffin. Mr. Worley was a faithful Christian and very involved in Southside Baptist Church, where he served as an usher for many years. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and tending to his vegetable garden.
Mr. Worley is preceded in death by his parents, William and Hazel Worley and one brother, Dale Worley.
He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years Carol Worley; daughter, Kim Worley of Palestine; stepdaughter, Annette Clark and husband Mark of Texas City; son, Brad Worley and wife Pam of Huntsville; stepson, James Kelsey and wife Lena of Kennard; brother, Thurman Lavelle Worley; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening on Friday, the 7th day of June, 2019, at Rhone Funeral Home.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Worley will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 8th day of June, 2019 at Southside Baptist Church with Bro. David English officiating. Interment will follow in Fields Chapel Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Mark Clark, James Kelsey, Hunter Kelsey, Bearen Bates, Baylen Bates, and Donald “Bubba” Hoke.
