Elizabeth Attaway Obituary

Elizabeth Anne Culpepper Attaway, of Palestine, Texas, a beloved wife, mother, aunt, Gigi, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, the 11th day of June 2026, at the age of 56. She was born on the 17th day of March 1970 in Henrietta, Texas to parents, Father John Culpepper and Linda Nichols Culpepper. She met the love of her life, Jeffery Attaway, and they married on the 17th day of July 1993 in Palestine, Texas and they went on to have a beautiful marriage for 32 years.

Elizabeth was and always will be an example of God’s love through her devotion, strength, compassion, and faith. Her life was centered around family, and she was happiest surrounded by loved ones, visiting and laughing.

She is survived by her husband Jeff Attaway; daughter, Monica Hutton and husband Turner; son, Grant Attaway; stepchildren, Nathan Attaway and Briley Pruitt; brothers, Paul Culpepper and wife Carrie, and Mark Culpepper and wife Karen; three grandchildren, and countless nieces and nephews. In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by other family members and numerous friends who love her.

Elizabeth is preceded in death by her father, Father John Culpepper, mother Linda Culpepper, and her brother, James Culpepper.

For 23 years Elizabeth worked as a court coordinator for Judge Jeff Doran. She served her community in this position and touched so many hearts along the way. Elizabeth was active in the First Methodist Church and grew many relationships with the congregation through service and worship. All that met Elizabeth know how deeply she loved her family, friends, and even people that she didn't know. Her memory will forever be in the hearts of her family, friends, and all that knew her.

Friends are invited to a visitation from five o’clock until seven o’clock in the evening on Tuesday, the 16th day of June 2026 at Rhone Funeral Home.

Funeral services to celebrate Elizabeth Attaway’s life are to be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 17th day of June 2026 at First Methodist Church in Palestine.  Interment will follow in Land of Memory Cemetery.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Andrew Culpepper, Aiden Culpepper, John Culpepper, Chance Perkins, Mitchell Culpepper, and Nathan Attaway.
