Elvira Vigil Obituary

Elvira Limon Vigil, age 77, of Palestine, left this life for her eternal home in heaven on the 2nd day of March, 2020.  She passed away at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, Texas.   She was born on the 7th day of February, 1943, in Charco-Blanco, Mexico, to parents Teofilo Limon and Juana Montelongo Limon.  

Ms. Vigil was a very loving and hard-working lady who loved her family dearly.  Her main goal was to protect and to bring her family close.  She was determined to raise her children with high morals so they would be successful in life. She was very humble, but she was attentive with her family and was always willing to help others in any way that she could.  She was a great cook.  She was a fighter all the way to the end of her life here on this earth.  She loved the Lord and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Eduardo Limon, Heriberto Limon, Lafiro Limon; and sisters, Esperanza Limon, Andrea Gonzalez, and Bartola Limon Coca.

Ms. Vigil is survived by her daughters, Maria Zavala & husband Marcelo, Elvira Armenta Manuel; sons, Bernardo Vigil and wife Irma, Jesus Vigil, Jose Antonio Vigil, Juan Vigil and wife Rita, Camilo Vigil; sister, Felicitas Manzano; brother Antonio Limon and wife Silvia Guadalupe; sixteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from four o’clock in the afternoon until six o’clock in the evening on Thursday, the 5th day of March, 2020 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel.  The recitation of the Holy Rosary in honor of Ms. Vigil is to commence at six o’clock in the evening.

The Mass of Christian burial is to be held at ten o’clock in the morning on Friday, the 6th day of March, 2020, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 503 N. Queen Street, Palestine, Texas with Father Luis Pena officiating. The Rite of Committal, via an escorted procession, will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Palestine.  Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception which will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. 

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Jose Antonio Vigil, Jesus Vigil, Bernardo Vigil, Brian Armenta, Esiel Vigil, Elian Vigil, Ivan Vigil, Ivan Armenta, Rogelio Vigil, Marcelo Zavala Jr., Christopher Vigil, Isaiah Zavala, and Jaiden Pacheco.
