On April 29th, 2025, our loving mom, Nannie and best friend ran into the loving arms of Jesus. To our surprise she left behind her purse while it had enough stuff in it to survive for days in the wilderness, to include a two-pronged fork just in case she found a cup of fruit while we were out and about. Since she never went anywhere without it, this alone gave us the assurance that she knew where she was going, and her Lord and Savior had everything she needed waiting for her.
Eula Lea was born in Dialville, Texas on March 13, 1941, to James Taylor Fannin Rodgers and Wanda Raye Moody. She lived in a tight knit community with her family until her prince charming, aka, Lavon Matrick Frisby saw her across the floor at the skating rink and swept her away to the big city of Grapeland, Texas where they created their homestead and raised their four children. Eula Lea was an only child but was blessed to raise their children alongside Lavon's sister's, Laura "Boots" Averitte, Gloria Redmond, Patsy Harrison and Marie Chambers and her most special best friend Dorothy Goolsby, who was most certainly her soul sister.
This is their legacy....
Kevin Lavon Frisby and wife Elizabeth, children Christopher Frisby and his children Jayden and Jacelyn, Lauren Frisby and her daughter Delanie, Brandon Frisby and Julia Frisby.
Tonya McQueen and children Tabitha Wolfford and her children Neomi, Alexis and Renee. Samantha Noyola and husband Juan and child Tyler John. Nickolas Wolfford and son Eli.
Lisa Frisby and children Troy Whitfield and son Owen, Taylor Mullins and husband Devin and their son Camden and soon to be baby Mullins.
Sonja Frisby-Corcoran and husband Anthony and their son Cody Corcoran
Mother and Dad raised a house full of happy kids where their friends were always welcome. The house was always filled with kids and grandkids at any given time. The love flowed like a river. The door was always open and you were always welcome. You could always find Tonya and Mom having long chats during the day waiting for the kids to get out of school. If you didn't know where those two were, you could bet they had made a mid-night run to Wal-Mart. Mom helped dad run their trucking company, Frisby Trucking and Frisby Hill was always buzzing from morning to night and her boy Kevin was right there under one of those big ole trucks with his dad. They would come in around dark-thirty, covered in grease, smelling like diesel ready for a good meal that Mom had prepared.
Mother lost Dad after a short cancer diagnosis in 2006. Her strength and faith pulled her out of her grief to care for Lisa and her illness with terminal renal disease. Mom, Lisa and Taylor spent their time in between extended hospital stays and dialysis treatments, but found time to fish, thrift, research family genealogy and scrapbook. Mother was very involved with her church and church families. Losing Lisa in 2009 was so devastating, but again she pulled herself out of her grief to help raise Taylor alongside Sonja. During this time, she was so blessed to care full time for her little angel great granddaughter Alexis, "Lex".
Mother lived back and forth in New Waverly with Sonja for the past ten years or so, but full time since 2021. Her time was filled with tending to her beautiful flowers, scrapbooking, thrifting, fishing, and just "going along for the ride" to wherever Sonja took her. She was spoiled with Chick-fil-a and Subways on request, pretzels, Bit-O-Honey candy and pretty much anything her heart desired. She would spend hours organizing her jewelry, sitting on the back porch admiring the flowers and we didn't dare tell Anthony how much we spent on them, and watching for the deer and other wildlife so she could report back to Anthony. Cody and Mom, both being only children, found pleasure in making me crazy, as they were no doubt "partners in crime". My mother's incredible humor and her "nannieisms" made our life joyful and created memories that will go down in history.
Losing Tonya in July of 2024 showed once again her immeasurable strength and faith in our Lord that she would see them again. We find comfort in knowing that Dad, Tonya and Lisa meet mom at heaven's gate. I'm sure to their surprise she wasn't pulling a U-Haul with her collections of "all things cool". It might have taken them a little while to usher her through the gates, as she always had to stop to get a little cutting of whatever flower was growing just outside. There is so much we could tell you about Mom and the interesting, joyful, devastating, beautiful life she lived, but I think she would want to tell you that of all the cool collections to find and display, the most important treasure in life is the love and personal relationship that you can have with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
