Frank Compton Obituary

Frank Arthur Compton, age 86, of Palestine, Texas, left his earthly home on Friday, the 9th day of May 2025, after a brief illness.  He was born on the 1st day of February 1939, in Akron, Colorado, to parents Frank Henry Compton and Anna Mildred Attebery.

Mr. Compton is survived by his wife of 35 years, Terre Doty Compton; children, Avin Lynn Graves, Andrea LaRae Graves, Andrew Liam Graves, Arthur James Graves, Jason Eugene Barlow and wife Sandra, Leslie Francis Compton, and Rachelle Ann Barlow; and his daughter-in-law, Jill Renee Miller.  He also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Carson Douglas Compton and wife Courtney, Camri Dayne Compton, Cayden Layne Barlow, Cayla Ann Barlow, Brittany Jo Pettis and husband James, Chase Eugene Barlow, Clyde Barlow, and Chance Wesley Barlow; along with three great-grandchildren, Henry Pettis, Hayes Carson Compton-Gay, and Caia Michelle Compton, that he loved to spoil.  Mr. Compton will leave a void in the hearts of his friends and supporters, Sunni Webb and John Ashford, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Anna Compton; son, Cody Lynn Graves; daughter, Andrea LaRae Barlow; sisters, Betty Browder and Ruth Hill; and his brother, Leslie Francis Compton. 

Mr. Compton grew up in Akron Colorado where he was a devoted member of the Lions Club for several years.  He later moved to Palestine and began his 55-year long career as a truck driver. Mr. Compton drove for Walmart 33 of those years and later retired at the age of 79. 

Mr. Compton was a loving husband who enjoyed spending time with his family.  He always said to his wife she was the love of his life, and they were soul mates.  Mr. Compton was an honest man who had a calm, and loving personality.  He enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life including bowling, in which he won many trophies.  He also enjoyed playing basketball and held several high school records. His love for basketball carried on with his adult life where he refereed games for numerous years.  Mr. Compton was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be missed but never forgotten.

In accordance with Mr. Compton's wishes, he will be cremated. Prior to the cremation, the family will convene for a private farewell service.
