Frank Edward Wood

Frank Edward Wood, age 69, of Elkhart, Texas, left this world for his home in Heaven on Saturday, the 23rd day of March 2024.  Frank was born in Friendswood, Texas on the 22nd day of May 1954 to parents Howard B. Wood and Bertha E. McKissick.  He was a man who left a lasting mark on the hearts of those who knew him, through his captivating stories and his zest for life.

Frank spent his professional years in the oil and gas industry, where he was respected for his work ethic and camaraderie. His career was marked not only by dedication but also by the friendships he forged and the lives he touched along the way.

Beyond his professional life, Frank's passions painted the picture of a man who never tired of exploring the world around him. His love for motorcycles took him on journeys across the country, living in an impressive 47 different states. Each new home was a chapter in his adventurous story, a testament to his interesting and spirited nature.

In his younger years, Frank found solace in the great outdoors, often going hunting and fishing, embracing the tranquility and challenges alike. His creative soul found expression in poetry, a craft he pursued with the same passion that characterized his every endeavor. Those who were fortunate enough to hear Frank's stories knew him to be a masterful storyteller, whose vivid recollections could transport listeners to another time and place.

Frank will be remembered as an adventurous spirit, an interesting companion, and a creative mind. His legacy is one of joy, discovery, and the art of storytelling, which will continue to inspire and entertain in memories and tales passed down. Frank's journey through life was as remarkable as the man himself, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

He is preceded in death by his parents Howard and Bertha Wood; sisters, Maggie Larsen and Wanda Gail Gullory; and his brother, Woody “Sunny” Wood.

Frank leaves behind his daughter Kristal Mays; sisters, Netta Martin, Linda Daniel, Pam Lowrey; and his beloved grandchildren, Zayne Wood and Kason Tate; along with his great-grandchildren, Brystal Wood, Wyatt Wood, Levi Wood, and Remi Hanson.  He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends. 

A Celebration of Life Service in memory of Frank Wood is to be conducted at one o’clock in the afternoon, on Saturday, the 30th day of March 2024 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel.  J.D. Daniel will officiate the service.  An inurnment in Evergreen Cemetery in Percilla, Texas will be held at a later date.
