Franklyn Arteamster Kidd, Jr., age 79, of Elkhart, Texas passed away with his family by his side on Tuesday, the 29th day of August 2023. Mr. Kidd was born in Wyatt, Missouri on the 1st day of May 1944 to parents Franklyn A. Kidd and Grace Kief Kidd. Mr. Kidd lived a life that was marked by wisdom, kindness, and selflessness, traits that endeared him to all who knew him.
Mr. Kidd was a distinguished veteran who spent 21 years of dedicated service in the United States Army. He served two tours in Vietnam, demonstrating bravery and resilience in the face of adversity. Mr. Kidd spent many of his years in Germany. His commitment to duty and his country was evident in his unwavering dedication and professionalism. While in the military he was a master of telephony, ensuring seamless communication within the ranks. Mr. Kidd was proud to be an American.
Mr. Kidd found joy in the simple things in life. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, and golfing. Mr. Kidd embraced the joy of competition and the tranquility of nature. Mr. Kidd was known for his keen interest in his red tractor, which he cherished and maintained with great care.
His love for travel was only surpassed by his love for doing so with his beloved wife of 58 years, Renate Kidd. He was a devoted family man, with whom he shared countless adventures and cherished memories. His love for his family was evident in his dedication and commitment to them. He was a pillar of strength, a beacon of wisdom, and a wellspring of love. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed.
He joined in heaven his parents Franklyn Kidd and Grace Kidd; and son Franklin Kidd.
Mr. Kidd left many memories behind with his loving wife Renate Kidd; daughters, Peggy Kidd and husband Jerry Copeland, of Elkhart, and Susan Wacha and husband Troy Wacha of Tucker; son, Robert Brian Kidd of San Antonio; grandchildren, Michael Corley, Travis Corley, Kevin Kidd, Justin Penn, Nicole Helm, Kayla Reed, Travis Wacha, Payton Black, Isabella Sierra, Penelope Kidd, Maverick Kidd, Frank Kidd, and Cody Kidd and 19 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind siblings and numerous nieces, nephews, and other loved ones.
A memorial service with military honors to honor the life of Mr. Kidd is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon, on Saturday, the 2nd day of September 2023 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in his name be directed towards Wounded Warrior Project.
