Fredamy Armstrong Obituary

Fredamy "Freddie Mae" Armstrong, of Elkhart, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, the 18th day of January 2023.  She was 88 years of age when the Lord called her to her eternal home in Heaven.  Mrs. Armstrong was born in Oakwood, Texas on the 1st day of June 1934, to parents Fred Adolph Balensiefen and Ethel Lunford Balensiefen. 

Mrs. Armstrong lived a long and fulfilling life.  She raised a large family and was blessed with many grandchildren and great-great grandchildren that she loved deeply.  Mrs. Armstrong was skilled at quilting and embroidery work.  She made various pieces throughout her life that her family will cherish forever.  Mrs. Armstrong had a green thumb and could grow beautiful English ivies, but her favorite flower was the red rose.  She also had a love for animals, especially her beloved dogs.  Mrs. Armstrong’s hobbies included working crossword puzzles and coloring books and watching Westerns on Television.  Mrs. Armstrong’s strong devotion to her family will always be remembered and passed down to generations to come. 

She is preceded in death by her parents Fred and Ethel Balensiefen; husband, Lee Lawson; children, Nina Merle Lawson, Albert (Tim) Lawson, Ethel Ledesma, Mary Morris; and her brothers, Archie Balensiefen, Alton Balensiefen, and Earnest Balensiefen.

Mrs. Armstrong will always be loved by her children, Rosetta Guillen of Palestine, Texas, Linnie Hamby of Elkhart, Texas, Toinette Villareal and husband Julio of Beeville, Texas, Sherry Ann Zarate of Palestine, Texas, and Fred Lawson and wife Victorina of Arlington, Texas; twenty-five grandchildren; sixty-four great-grandchildren; and fifteen great-great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Friends are invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening on Friday, the 27th day of January 2023 at Rhone Funeral Home.

A graveside service to celebrate Mrs. Armstrong’s life is to be conducted at one o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 28th day of January 2023 at Pilgrim Cemetery in Elkhart, Texas with Bro. Billy Martin officiating the service.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Matthew Lawson, Allen Thumann, Shane Emerson, Gerardo Sanchez, Jr., Quavon Adams, Colby Zarate, Arthur Ray Collier, and Jose (PeeWee) Zarate.

Honorary pallbearers include Fred Lawson, Matthew Bowman, Manuel Sanchez, Adan Sanchez, and John Parker.

Funeral services for Fredamy Armstrong are in care of Rhone Funeral Home, 3900 S. State Highway, Palestine, Texas.
